Before doing update, we need to focus on some prerequisite.
- Backup config files.
- Backup log files.
- Backup databases.
- Backup customized scripts.
- Backup other important files.
Open up terminal and switch to root
su -l
Check the current release.
cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 6.3 (Final)
CentOS release 6.3 (Final)
update the machine.
yum update
verify the release after updating.
cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 6.4 (Final)
CentOS release 6.4 (Final)
That’s all. Now the system successfully updated to CentOS 6.4.
