Install Cinnamon Desktop on openSUSE 12.1

Cinnamon is a Linux desktop which provides advanced innovative features and a traditional user experience. The desktop layout is similar to Gnome 2. The underlying technology is forked from Gnome Shell.Cinnamon features traditional gnome-panel layout with the main-menu, systray, workspace indicator etc. GUI configuration tool is under development, till then dconf-editor or gnome-tweak-tool can be used to fine-tune Cinnamon.

Method 1:

openSUSE provides the one click install setup for public installation. Click Here to download the Cinnamon desktop setup. Once the installation is completed, logout and select Cinnamon session and the login back into the work

Method 2:

Alternatively command line mode installation available for installing the Cinnamon desktop. Follow the steps to install cinnamon desktop.

Add cinnamon repository.

zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Cinnamon/12.1/GNOME:Cinnamon.repo

Update the repository.

zypper refresh

Install Cinnamon.

zypper in cinnamon
