10 Useful 5 Star Rating Review – WordPress Plugins


The 5 star rating system  most used review system on the web. The premise is simple: visitors choose a rating from one to 5 stars to rate a product or service. One star usually denotes the lower end of the scale with 5 stars being the highest rating possible.

Today I would like to show you 10 free 5 star rating WordPress plugins. 5 star functionality can be added to an existing website so you doesn’t have to customise your website design too much.


1. GD Star Rating Plugin:

GD Star Rating plugin allows you to set up rating and review system for posts, pages and comments in your blog. You can set many options for displaying the rating stars, and add widgets into the sidebars for displaying top ratings and other statistics generated by the plugin. Plugin includes advanced settings panels that will allow you to control many aspects of rating. Plugin also supports multi ratings along with thumbs based ratings. Plugin supports use of cache plugins and dynamic loading of data using ajax.

The latest ratings and other statistics can be shown in your widget ready areas. It supports multi ratings and you can use thumbs up and down too. The plugin is perhaps not as user friendly as some of the more basic plugins available, due to the sheer volume of features GD Star Rating packs.

2. Polldaddy Polls & Ratings:

You can collect unlimited votes and create unlimited polls. The new ratings menu allows you to embed ratings into your posts, pages or comments. The rating editor allows you to fully customize you rating. You can also avail of the the ‘Top Rated’ widget that will allow you to place the widget in your sidebar. This widget will show you the top rated posts, pages and comments today, this week and this month.






3. Rate This Page Plugin:

Rate This Page is a Wikipedia Article Feedback Tool like plugin where you can rate certain posts or pages of your blog.

This plugin contains the following features: Ability to select where the plugin UI will be positioned on the content; Ability to choose insertion if either on Page, Category or Both; Admin can view reports of rated posts or pages; The label can also be customized based on the like of the admin to be its label.Using cookies, the plugin stores a session if a guest user rates certain posts or pages and it uses AJAX to store the rating information.

4. Xavin’s Review Ratings:

This plugin adds a shortcode tag that will display a rating in one of several formats. Here is a feature breakdown:

Input ratings as a fraction (4/5) or a percentage (80%).  Use any amount of stars from 2 to 100.  Set the minimal star fraction allowed, whole, half or quarter. Split multiple ratings in one post/page into groups, and have a separate overall rating calculated for each. Display the rating as image stars, text stars, a percentage, a fraction, or any combination.
Multiple star image sets included, others can be easily added. Fully templatized output, use whatever tags you want.
Optionally group ratings in a table or other structure. Settings page for global settings and tag defaults.

5. Post Ratings:

Simple, developer-friendly, straightforward post rating plugin. Relies on post meta to store avg. rating / vote count.

6. KK Star Ratings:

kk Star Ratings allows blog visitors to involve and interact more effectively with your website by rating posts. As the name states, this plugin displays a 5 star ratings in your posts/pages. It has quite cool hover fade effects and animations. Version 1.3+ also inludes a widget so you can show top rated posts in your sidebar as well.

7. Contestant Rating:

Contestant Rating is a plugin that will allow a wordpress user to rate a post or in our version a Karaoke contestant using the classic method of five stars.

This script is a modified version of post-star-rating plug in by O Doutor post-star-rating. The script has been cleaned up to work with all browsers and was inteded to be used to rate video of karaoke contestants in wordpress post(s).

Five stars in the post when the post has not been voted on yet.

10. Gpc Enhactivity Profile Actvity:

This plugin enhance the current activity stream on a users profile with an extra section “Latest Comments” on the profile main page where are shown the latest comments that user made on blogs.

Each comment activity has the follow data: * Title of the Post, with a link to the comment * Title of the Blog, with a link to the comment * Comment Rating (The rating a user made with the gd star rating plugin to this comment) * A Thumbnail Image associated with post using the gpc-attach-image-post plugin. If any image, appears in blank. * Comment whole Text, with a link to the comment * Comment Date, with a link to the comment.
