Losing some of the videos on your device can be as a result of very many circumstances. You can accidentally delete some of your videos or they can be lost due to a software malfunction or damaged hardware. But sometimes for reasons beyond your control or for reasons you may not be aware of, your videos can simply vanish from your device; one moment you are aware that they are there and the next they are not. You don’t know what has happened since all other aspects of your device seem to be working just fine.
Whatever the reason you have lost some of your videos, trying to get them back can seem like a nightmare proposition especially if you don’t have a backup of the missing videos. In this article, we are going to share with several steps to take when your videos simply disappear from the device.
Option #1: Reset All Settings on iPhone
There are some settings that you may not be aware of that could be causing the problem. Resetting your settings is a good way to eliminate these settings and get the device working normally again which may fix the problem. Here’s how to do it;
Step 1: Go to Settings > General
Step 2: Scroll down to tap on “Reset.”
Step 3: Tap on “Reset All Settings” and confirm the action when prompted.
Option #2: Check Your Recently Deleted Folder
When you accidentally delete photos and videos, they often end up in the “Recently Deleted” folder from which you can recover them. To check, follow these simple steps;
Step 1: Go to Photos > Albums > Recently Deleted
Step 2: If you see your missing video, tap on it and then tap “Recover”
Step 3: Confirm that you want to recover the video.
Option #3: Make Sure that iCloud Photos is Turned On
If you are trying to access the videos on a different device, you may not be able to see it if iCloud Photos is turned off. Here’s how to turn it on;
Step 1: Go to Settings > {Your Name} > iCloud
Step 2: Tap on “Photos” and then turn on “iCloud Photos.”
Option #4: Sign in with the Same Apple ID
Also, if you are trying to locate the video on a different device, you can only see it if you are signed in with the same Apple ID on both devices. You can check if you are signed in on the same Apple ID in the settings on your device.
Option #5: Verify If You Hide the Videos
It is also possible that the reason why you can’t see your videos is because they are in the Hidden album. Here’s how to unhide them;
Step 1: Open the Photos App and then go to “Albums” tab
Step 2: tap on “Hidden” which can be found under “Other Albums.”
Step 3: Select the video you would like to unhide and then click on download icon and choose “Unhide.”
Scenario 2: Video App Disappeared from the iPhone
Sometimes it is not a single video that is missing on the device but the entire video app. If a video app is missing on your iPhone, you may want to try the following;
Option #1: Verify if the “Video” App Has been Moved into a New Folder
The first thing you should do is check all folders to ensure you did not accidentally move the “Video” app to a different folder. If the app is in a different folder, it may be the reason why you are can’t see it. It is also worth noting that the “Video” app was replaced by the TV app, so check if you have that.
Option #2: Search for the Video App
If you are unable to find it, you may also want to search for it. Tap on “Search” and look for “Video” and then download the most suitable app for your needs.
